It is stiff for the first two to three months of regular wear, and it is noticeably heavier on the shoulders. That weight is the point. Goatskin

Goatskin has a tight fibre structure that makes it much stronger than its weight suggests. It is naturally water resistant thanks to the lanolin in the hide, and it breaks in faster than cowhide while lasting far longer than lambskin.

Sheepskin and Shearling
