Why the proportions matter
A men's B3 sized down is not a women's B3. The shoulder width, the depth of the collar and the length of the body all scale differently, and a jacket that simply shrinks all three ends up with a collar that sits too high and shoulders that drop past the joint. That is why so many women find vintage-cut shearling unwearable.
This pattern is drafted separately: shoulders set narrower, body cut shorter so it ends at the natural waist rather than the hip, and the collar reduced in depth so it frames the face instead of covering it.
Real sheepskin
One skin doing two jobs. The hide side blocks wind completely; the wool side traps warm air against you. Because they are the same piece of skin there is no separate lining to shift, no seam for cold air to find, and no wadding to compress and thin out over the years.
That is why a sheepskin jacket is as warm in year ten as it was new, which is not true of any synthetic insulation. The wool is left at full depth, because depth is what does the insulating.
The collar straps
The twin buckle straps are the signature B3 detail and they are functional, not decorative. Buckled closed they seal the neck opening completely, which is where most of the heat escapes on any jacket. Left open they fold down and the collar sits flat, which is how most people wear it day to day.
Weight, fit and honest expectations
It is heavy. Full sheepskin weighs several times what a plain leather jacket does and there is no light version — anything sold as one is not full sheepskin. Most owners find the weight becomes reassuring rather than tiring after the first week.
