Blue leather
Getting a clean blue on leather is harder than getting black. The hide has to have a fine, even grain or the dye goes patchy, and the finish has to be sealed properly or it will rub off on lighter clothing. This pair uses a hide selected for even grain and a sealed finish for that reason.
Like any strong colour, blue will lighten over years if the trousers live in direct sunlight. Store them hanging out of a sunny window. Under normal wear the colour holds and the wear points — knees, seat, pocket edges — take on a slightly lighter cast that most people find improves them.
Biker construction
The seams are reinforced and stitched twice, which is where the biker part of the name comes from. Riding trousers put load on the inseam and the seat in a way ordinary trousers do not, and even worn purely as fashion those are the seams that fail first. Doubling them costs more and lasts longer.
The five-pocket layout has backed pocket bags and reinforced stress points. The waistband is faced with belt loops.
Fit and styling
The fit is regular with a straight leg, not skinny. Take your normal size and go up rather than down if you are between, since leather has no stretch. Full length to the ankle.
