What makes it western rather than biker

Three things. First, the yokes — pointed panels across the chest and the back that carry the shaping and give the vest its outline. Second, the front points, which drop slightly below the hem line rather than cutting straight across. Third, the fastening: snaps set in a clean vertical line, sometimes with a matching snap on the pocket flaps, instead of a heavy biker zip.
