Cowhide is the standard for leather trousers because it is tough. Lambskin trades some of that toughness for weight and flexibility. In practical terms a lambskin trouser weighs noticeably less, bends at the knee immediately, and sits flat against the leg rather than standing away from it.

The skinny cut

The leg is narrow from hip to ankle. Because lambskin is flexible, this pattern does not need the extra knee panels a cowhide skinny trouser requires — the material itself does the bending. That gives a cleaner leg line with fewer visible seams.

The waistband is faced with a zip fly and belt loops. Ankles are cut narrow with no zip, so they pull on. Pocket bags are stitched flat so they do not print through the thin hide.
