Why textile and leather together
Full leather is the tougher material but it is heavy and it does not breathe. Full textile is lighter and cooler but wears through faster at the points that take contact. Combining them puts leather only where abrasion resistance matters — shoulders, elbows, forearms — and textile everywhere else, so the jacket ends up lighter and cooler than a leather jacket without giving up protection at the points that matter most.
The mesh vents are panels of open weave set into the chest and back, positioned so air enters at the front and exits at the back as you ride. On a hot day the difference against a solid jacket is immediate.
Fit and adjustment
Riding jackets are cut differently from fashion jackets. The sleeves are pre-curved for a forward riding position, the back is longer than the front so it does not ride up, and the collar is shaped to sit under a helmet. Adjustment straps at the waist and cuffs let you tighten the jacket down so it does not flap at speed — a loose textile jacket at motorway speed is genuinely tiring.
