Men Brown B3 Aviator Shearling Jacket
People buy shearling for the material, but a large part of why a B3 works is where it closes. Insulation only helps if the warm air stays inside, and the openings — neck, wrists, hem — are where it escapes.

Why the openings matter more than the thickness
A jacket loses heat two ways: through the material, and out of the gaps. Thick insulation solves the first. Only the closures solve the second, and in wind the gaps matter more — moving air pulls warm air out of a loose cuff far faster than it passes through the hide.
That is why the B3 pattern closes at every opening. The collar straps pull the throat shut. The cuffs sit close at the wrist. The hem is snug at the waist. Fasten all three and the jacket becomes a sealed envelope; leave them open and you lose much of the benefit.
It is also why people sometimes report a very warm jacket feeling cold — almost always because it was worn open.
The construction underneath
One sheepskin, tanned with the fleece attached: hide outward blocking wind, wool inward trapping air, no separate lining and no seam between shell and insulation. Wool also keeps insulating when slightly damp, unlike down.
Fit, wear and honest notes
Take your normal size — the pattern already allows for the fleece. A fine knit underneath is normally enough.
