New Stylish Varsity Leather jacket For Women
This is the varsity with the college stripped out. The shape is kept — snap front, ribbed trims, angled pockets — but the details that shout school kit are gone: no striped ribbing, no contrast sleeves, no oversized proportions. What is left is a leather jacket that happens to be built on a varsity pattern rather than a jacket that announces one.

What was taken out
Striped ribbing, first. A two-colour rib at the collar and cuffs is the single detail that reads most strongly as school kit, and removing it changes the jacket more than any other change would.
Contrast sleeves, second. A traditional varsity puts white or cream leather sleeves on a coloured body, which is graphic and instantly recognisable. One colour throughout is quieter and works with far more of a wardrobe.
And the oversized proportions. A classic varsity is cut generously because it was worn over sports kit. This one is brought in through the body and shoulders so it reads deliberate rather than borrowed.
What was kept
The snap placket, because that is what makes a varsity rather than a bomber — and because it gives a flat front with no zip tape up the centre. The ribbed collar, cuffs and hem, which is what gathers the jacket at the waist and wrists. And the angled hip pockets.
Take those away and it stops being a varsity at all; keep them plain and you get the shape without the reference.
Cut for women
Narrower shoulders so the seam sits on your shoulder point. A shorter body so the ribbed hem gathers at the natural waist rather than below the hip. And a raised armhole, since a low men's armhole restricts movement on a narrower frame.
The trade-off with a snap front
Snaps leave small gaps between fasteners where a zip seals completely, so this is a mild-weather jacket rather than a winter one. That is inherent to the varsity shape. If you want the same look with real wind protection, our zip-front bombers are in the Women Bomber Leather Jackets range.
Build
Real leather with double-stitched seams and reinforcement at the shoulders. Each snap set through a reinforced tab so it does not tear out of the hide. Dense knit rib that recovers rather than stretching out. A plain back panel, so lettering can still be added if you want the college reference back.
Fit and styling
Take your normal size over a tee or fine knit, and size up if you want a jumper underneath — the updated cut does not include the room a classic varsity has.
Because it is plain and closer-fitting, it works beyond jeans and trainers: over a dress, with tailored trousers, or under a longer coat. See the rest of our Women Varsity Jackets, or Women Leather Jackets for other shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a classic varsity?
No striped ribbing, no contrast sleeves, and closer proportions. The snap front, ribbed trims and angled pockets are kept.
Is it still a varsity without the stripes?
Yes — the snap placket and ribbed trims are what define the shape. The stripes are decoration.
Can I wear a jumper underneath?
Size up if you plan to. The updated cut does not include the room a classic varsity has.
Is it warm?
Mild weather. A snap front leaves small gaps that a zip would seal — our zip bombers are the warmer option.
Can I add lettering?
Yes. The back panel is left plain, so you can put the college reference back if you want it.
What size should I order?
Your normal size over a tee or fine knit, sizing up to layer. Custom sizing is free.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth, keep away from direct heat, condition twice a year. Never machine wash or dry clean.
