What PU is, and what it is not

PU is a polyurethane coating applied to a fabric backing and embossed to look like leather. It is not hide, it is not a leather grade, and it does not age like leather — it will not develop a patina, and it does not soften over years the way real leather does.

What it does do is stay exactly as it arrives for a good while, weigh very little, and wipe clean in seconds. It is also consistent: there is no grain variation between panels, because there is no animal skin involved.

How long PU lasts, honestly

Less than leather, and it fails differently. Rather than wearing thin, a PU coating eventually cracks or flakes at the highest-flex points — elbows, the collar fold, the front edges. How long that takes depends mostly on care: heat and dryness accelerate it badly.

Keep it away from radiators, never tumble dry it, never iron it, and wipe rather than soak it. Treated that way a PU jacket gives you several good seasons.

The moto cut

Short in the body, close through the arms, with panelling at the elbow and a front zip. The shape is the same one used on our leather moto jackets, which is why it reads correctly despite the different material.

PU has slightly more give than leather, so the fit is a little more forgiving. Take your normal size over a tee or thin knit, and size up if you want to layer.
