Red on leather
Colour behaves differently on hide than on cloth. Red on leather has depth — darker in the folds at the elbow and along the placket, brighter across the flat panels — so it moves with you rather than sitting as one block. That depth is why red leather looks expensive where red fabric often looks cheap.
Two honest notes. Strong dye lightens over years in direct sunlight, so store it out of a sunny window. And on a bright colour every seam is visible, so the stitching has to run straight — there is nowhere to hide a wandering line on red the way there is on black.
The uniform detailing
Epaulettes across each shoulder, buttoned at the collar end, which also stiffens the shoulder line so the leather does not collapse there. Squared flap pockets at the chest, backed so the flaps lie flat. A collar with a stand that rolls rather than sitting flat. A straight hem, so the shirt reads correctly tucked or out.
The placket is reinforced behind the fastenings, which keeps the front from stretching at the closure points.
