Varsity Baseball Leather Jacket For Women
Varsity jackets started as menswear and most women's versions are still men's patterns in smaller sizes, which is why so many of them sit badly. This one is drafted for a woman's frame: narrower shoulders, a shorter body, and a higher armhole. The shape and detailing are unchanged — snap front, ribbed collar, cuffs and hem, angled hip pockets — but the proportions are not scaled-down menswear.

What changes on a women's varsity
Three things, and all three matter. The shoulder width comes in, so the seam sits on your shoulder point rather than dropping past it — a dropped shoulder on a bulky jacket reads as borrowed rather than oversized.
The body is shortened, so the ribbed hem gathers at your natural waist instead of below the hip. That single change is what makes a varsity look intentional on a woman rather than swamping.
And the armhole is raised. A men's armhole sits low, which on a narrower frame means the sleeve starts halfway down the upper arm and restricts movement.
The varsity details, kept
Snap front placket rather than a zip — that is what makes it a varsity rather than a bomber, and it gives a flat front with no zip tape running up the centre. Each snap is set through a reinforced tab so it does not tear out of the hide.
Ribbed collar, cuffs and hem in a dense knit that recovers rather than stretching out. Slack ribbing is how a varsity loses its shape permanently, and it is the first thing cut on a cheap one.
The back is left plain, so lettering or a patch can be added later by a tailor without crossing a seam.
Wind, honestly
A snap front leaves small gaps between fasteners where a zip seals completely. That is inherent to the varsity shape rather than a fault, and it makes this a mild-weather jacket rather than a winter one. Our zip-front bombers in the same range are the warmer option.
Fit and styling
Womens varsity fit — roomier than a moto jacket, but not oversized. Take your normal size; room for a knit is already built in, so avoid sizing up unless you want it noticeably loose.
Jeans and trainers is the natural pairing. Because the body is shortened, it also works over a midi skirt or high-waisted trousers, which a men's-cut varsity does not. See the rest of our Women Varsity Jackets, or Women Bomber Leather Jackets for a zip front.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a men's varsity in smaller sizes?
No. The shoulder width, body length and armhole height are all drafted for a woman's frame rather than scaled down.
Why does the shorter body matter?
It puts the ribbed hem at your natural waist rather than below the hip, which is what stops a varsity swamping you.
Is it as windproof as a zip jacket?
No. A snap front leaves small gaps between fasteners. It is a mild-weather jacket; our zip bombers are the warmer option.
Can I add lettering or a patch?
Yes. The back is left plain and the hide is heavy enough for a tailor to stitch onto.
Will the ribbing stretch out?
Not with normal wear. It is a dense knit that recovers, which is what keeps the shape.
What size should I order?
Your normal size. Room for a knit is already built in. Custom sizing is free.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth, keep away from direct heat, condition twice a year. Never machine wash or dry clean.
