The Men Jet Black Shearling Leather Jacket is the darkest finish we offer in sheepskin. Jet black on shearling is a deliberate choice rather than a default — natural sheepskin tans brown, so a black hide has been dyed to get there, and the result is a jacket that looks nothing like a heritage flight jacket.

Why jet black reads differently
Brown shearling carries a strong association — aviators, ranches, vintage. Jet black has none of it. The jacket becomes modern outerwear that happens to be extremely warm, which means it sits comfortably with a contemporary wardrobe rather than requiring a heritage outfit around it.

The construction
Shearling is one sheepskin tanned with the fleece attached: hide outward blocking wind, wool inward trapping air, and no seam between shell and insulation for cold to find. There is no separate lining because the material is its own lining.
It is why a shearling jacket beats layered jackets of similar thickness, and why wool keeps insulating when slightly damp where down collapses.
