Soft Fermented Burgundy Zoey Leather Pants
The finish is what makes these different. The hide is treated to soften it right through the fibre rather than just at the surface, so the leather arrives supple, drapes against the leg, and has an uneven, lived-in burgundy tone rather than a flat one. It is the softest coloured leather trouser in the range, and the one that feels least like a new garment when you first put it on.

Softened, not just coated
There are two ways to make leather feel soft. The shortcut is a surface treatment, which feels good in the shop and wears off. The proper way is to work the hide itself so the fibre structure loosens through its whole thickness, which changes the leather permanently.
This is the second kind. The softness does not wear off, the trousers need no breaking in, and the leather moves with the leg from the first hour rather than resisting it. It also means the hide takes on wear patterns rather than losing a finish.
The burgundy tone
Because the hide is worked rather than coated, the colour sits unevenly — deeper in the creases and along the seams, lighter across the flat panels. On a burgundy that variation reads as depth. It is why this pair looks quite different from a flat-dyed coloured trouser, and why it photographs well.
Like any strong dye, it will lighten over years in direct sunlight, so hang them out of a sunny window. Slight variation between panels is normal on worked hide and is the sign that it is not a coated surface.
Fit and build
Slim fit with a soft drape rather than a rigid line — the trousers follow the leg instead of holding a shape. Faced waistband with a zip fly and belt loops. Pocket bags stitched flat so nothing prints through the softened hide.
Seams are stitched with thread matched to the weight of the leather; heavy stitching on softened hide puckers the panel.
Sizing and styling
Take your normal size. Softened leather has more give than a firm hide, so most people do not need to size up, though up is safer than down between sizes. Custom is free — send waist, hip, thigh and inside leg.
Burgundy behaves like a neutral because it is dark, so black, grey, cream, camel and denim all work. Keep the top plain. See our Women Leather Jackets, other cuts in Women Leather Pants, or tops in Women Leather Shirts.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the leather soft?
The hide is worked so the fibre structure loosens through its whole thickness, rather than being given a surface treatment that wears off.
Does the softness wear off?
No. It is a change to the hide itself, not a coating.
Do they need breaking in?
No. They are supple from the first wear.
Is uneven colour a fault?
No. Worked hide takes dye unevenly, and on burgundy that variation is what gives the colour depth.
Will the colour fade?
Not with normal wear. Long exposure to direct sunlight lightens any strong dye, so store them out of a sunny window.
What size should I order?
Your normal size. Softened leather has some give, but go up rather than down if you are between sizes. Custom is free.
How do I care for them?
Dry cloth, hang by the waistband, condition twice a year with a neutral conditioner. Never machine wash or dry clean.
